Initially built in 1967, Nguyen Hien Dinh Tuong Theatre located at 155 Phan Chu Trinh (Phan Chu Trinh) Street, Hai Chau (Hải Châu) District, Da Nang City has performed arts and organized Tuong performances for more than 50 years. The theatre is well-known for many generations of performers and artists that stand at the top levels in the country. What You Can Explore At Nguyen Hien Dinh Tuong Theatre
The theatre opens at 7:30 pm every Wednesday and Saturday. Visiting here, you can enjoy the fantastic Vietnamese traditional art show that has been performed many times and now still receive the welcome and love of both domestic and foreigner viewers.
The show will let you know about the different cultural traditions of Vietnam, especially Quang Nam – Da Nang (Quảng Nam – Đà Nẵng) region with three parts in the program. They include the countryside picture, a glimpse of Vietnam and Countryside Soul. Each performance lasts about 45- 50 minutes and is performed alternatively on Wednesday and Saturday evening.
The story and performances of the show are based on Tuong art and other traditional art performances of Quang Nam and other regions of Vietnam.
After each performance, tourists and visitors will understand the information and quintessence of Tuong traditional art, typical make-up method of Tuong, and classical acts.
The artists will play different traditional musical instruments such as Dan Bau (đàn bầu (one-string zither)) and Cham trumpet.
The highlight of the show is classical opera art. It is a unique specific traditional musical art of Vietnam that is formed with dance, music, and age-old folk performances. Unlike cai luong (cải lương), cheo (chèo), and other kinds of traditional art, classical opera tells the stories of heroes who protect and contribute to the peace of Motherland. The opera performances always give us lessons about human behaviors.
