On the 30th January 1968, the Viet Cong (Việt Cộng) joined with the force of the People’s Army of Vietnam to launch attacks on towns, cities, and villages in South Vietnam in a military operation called the Tet Offensive.
It was the bloodiest fighting that took place in Hue city and the bloodiest day on the 3rd February always exists in the mind of Vietnamese people. After that day, about 3,000 – 9,000 soldiers and 5,000 civilians died.
As the memorial park, the 3 February Park still keeps the poignant and subtle reminders of the absurdity and brutality of war in its sculptures. Many sculptures in the park show the images of people in strange and uncomfortable positions. For example, a woman is pulled by hands.
