A Tranquil Paradise For Relaxing
Seen from the above, the island looks like a rocket launcher, which is a reason why it is named Ti Top Island. Ti Top Island is untouched and pristine; therefore, it still owns many natural beauties of the landscape. Visiting the island, you will be astonished at the primitive trees that cover the whole hill with the green color. There are some brown lines of land that are in vertical or twisty shape. They are created by the locals passing through.
The intertwining connection of green trees and grass, the beauty of the sky blended with the brown of land and mountains makes the place more unspoiled, peaceful, and poetic.
A Steep Climb Of A Few Hundred Steps
Ti Top Island is a steep climb where you can conquer the Ti Top Mountain. Taking about 400 steps to the summit, visitors can enjoy a panoramic 360° view of Halong Bay at the observation deck.
At the top of Ti Top Island, many breathtaking pictures of Halong Bay are taken and loved by not only Vietnamese but also international travelers. Standing at the summit, if you are lucky, you can catch the moment of the sunset and witness the spectacular view of the sun hiding behind the enormous Halong Bay’s limestones.
If you have a chance to climb the mountain of Ti Top, you should spend an hour of sightseeing and photographing a beautiful natural wonder of Northern Vietnam.
A Beautiful Gem In Halong Bay
Ti Top Island appears as the shiny blue gem in the middle of Halong Bay with the sky blue water. The whole island is truly exceptional with the enormous number of limestones karst around. That will be an unbelievable experience you spend on the island.
Swimming Beach Ti Top
Another outstanding feature of Ti Top Island is the swimming beach at the foot of the mountain. Shaping like a Moon embracing the island, Ti Top beach is not large but is quiet, clean, and airy. Thanks to the continuous tides, the sand is white and smooth, and the water is year-round blue. It is a reason why Vietnamese and international tourists like the beach and want to take the tour to this island.
Besides Ti Top, this place also had the other names like Hong Thap Tu (Hồng Thập Tự) or Nghia Dia (Nghĩa Địa) Island in the Resistance War against France. These names were to commemorate sailors who died on a French cargo ship in Halong Bay. So, visiting the island, you can have a chance to know the whole history of the island.
In 1962, the great leader Ho Chi Minh and Soviet space astronaut Gherman Titov visited this island and named the place Ti Top. Nowadays, Ti Top Island became a symbol of friendship between Vietnam and the Soviet Union.
Ti Top is located in the southeast of the Halong Bay. The island is about 7 or 8 km from Bai Chay tourist ship port. Around the island is the Cua Luc Bay (Vịnh Cửa Lục), in front of Ti Top is Bo Hon Island (đảo Bồ Hòn) and Dam Nam Island (hòn Dầm Nam) is on the right.
After climbing to the top of the mountain, you should reward yourself with a refreshing dip in the Ti Top Beach of Halong Bay. Tourists can sunbathe and swim in the clean blue water. It is also a great idea to relax in a deck chair while enjoying the coconut drink.
In addition to climbing and swimming, there are countless activities you can participate in the island such as kayaking, pulling buoys, parachuting, and so on. Kayaking is a favorite activity among guests.
As a year-round attraction, Halong Ti Top Island welcomes visitors at any time of the year. The first peak season of the year is from June to July when most of the tourists are Asian and Vietnamese. The second peak season is from December to February with most of the travelers coming from America, Europe and other countries in the temperate zone.
Also, the first off-peak season falls from April to May while from August to October is the second. If you want to visit the island in the peak season, keep in mind that the price could be higher and you may face the availability issue. Therefore, you should book your excursion early in advance to get the best price and stop disappointment.
The most crowded times of the island are Vietnamese New Year (January or February), Reunification Day (30th April), Christmas and International Worker’s Day (1st May). Especially on Independence Day (2nd September) – a national public holiday in Vietnam, you can see many Vietnamese red flags on the way heading to Ti Top Island. Furthermore, the end of April or beginning of May is also a recommended time to visit this island because annual street festival Halong Carnival is organized.
To meet the needs and demands of an increasing number of visitors and tourists to Ti Top Island, there are numerous high-end resorts, luxury hotels, bars, restaurants, life-buoy renting, souvenir shops, kayak facilities, and skydiving.
